Remodeling of Cam Deformity in Slipped Capital Femoral Epiphysis

چکیده
INTRODUCTION There has been growing interest in the concept of cam-type femoroacetabular impingement (FAI) as an etiological factor in the development of osteoarthritis of the hip after slipped capital femoral epiphysis (SCFE). Remodeling of the femoral head has been reported from several authors, however, a little is known about the remodeling from the point of cam deformity. Therefore, we conducted this study to examine the remodeling of the anterior offset of the femoral head/neck and the frequency of cam deformity in patients with SCFE after skeletal maturity.

Cam deformity and hip degeneration are common after fixation of a slipped capital femoral epiphysis
BACKGROUND AND PURPOSE Slipped capital femoral epiphysis is thought to result in cam deformity and femoroacetabular impingement. We examined: (1) cam-type deformity, (2) labral degeneration, chondrolabral damage, and osteoarthritic development, and (3) the clinical and patient-reported outcome after fixation of slipped capital femoral epiphysis (SCFE). METHODS We identified 28 patients who we...
متن کاملFemoral remodeling may influence patient outcomes in slipped capital femoral epiphysis.
Clinical studies of patients treated for slipped capital femoral epiphysis have found limited functional impairment and femoral neck deformity causing eventual coxarthrosis. Since patient-focused assessments minimize bias and reflect health-related quality of life status, we coupled their use to a clinical examination to obtain a more patient-centered picture of slipped capital femoral epiphyse...
متن کاملA comparison study of radiographic and computerized tomographic angles in slipped capital femoral epiphysis☆
OBJECTIVE To compare proximal femur radiologic angles in patients with slipped capital femoral epiphysis and to analyze whether computerized tomography may modify the treatment. METHODS Cross-sectional study comparing and analyzing the similarity between angles and radiologic classification of interest in slipped capital femoral epiphysis (SCFE). RESULTS It was observed that the therapeutic...
متن کاملRelationships Between Severity of Deformity and Impingement in Slipped Capital Femoral Epiphysis.
BACKGROUND In situ pinning, a low-risk treatment for slipped capital femoral epiphysis (SCFE), leaves the slipped femoral head in place and may reduce range of motion (ROM) and cause impingement. It is unclear when a more complex surgery should be considered, because the relationships between severity, slip stability, remodeling, impingement, and ROM are unknown. RESEARCH QUESTIONS (1) Do mor...
متن کاملResidual Femoral Deformity and Femoroacetabular Impingement after Intertrochanteric Osteotomy for Slipped Capital Femoral Epiphysis.
We retrospectively reviewed 29 hips in which intertrochanteric osteotomies were performed for severe slipped capital femoral epiphyses. Mean age at surgery: 12.6 years. Mean follow-up period: 6 years. At the final follow-up evaluation, one patient had coxalgia, and six hips showed a limited range of motion. A pistol-grip deformity was observed in 13 hips, osteoarthritis in two hips, and a bump ...
